About Us
The public transport system is the backbone of any city. It plays a pivotal role in establishing the foundations of the social and economic development of urban spaces. Unfortunately, in the city of Karachi, the quality of the public transport has only declined over years. The people are forced to travel in a system that is in extremely poor condition. The buses are in bad shape and the waiting time is too long. Currently, even less than 3000 thousand buses are operating to serve a population of much over 1.6 million. This makes the city of Karachi have one of the worst buses to population ratios in the world.
At this point, the Green Line BRTS comes as a big respite for the Karachiites. The system is set to cater to a significant and critical section of the city with a state-of-the-art transportation facility. Starting from Surjani, and ending at Numaish, the service shall cover some of the most vibrant areas of Karachi such as North Karachi, North Nazimabad, Nazimabad, Sanitary Market, and Gurumandar. Roughly around 135,000 passengers are expected to travel on this system through its 22 state-of-the-art stations. The system shall operate through an advanced Information Technical system (ITS), capable of providing real-time movement information of buses to the passengers and of offering a distance-based fare charging structure.
The Green Line BRTS is the first and most critical milestone of a “BREEZE” system, which is a name given to a network of multiple BRTS planned for the city of Karachi.
